Valenciennes Communal Cemetery in France serves as the final resting place for 885 Commonwealth soldiers who died during the First World War. Four Identified Australian Fromelles soldiers, Prisoners of War are associated with Valenciennes Communal Cemetery. During August and September 1914, the cemetery was utilised by German forces, leading to the creation of an extension on its southeast side. Following the war, Commonwealth graves were established adjacent to the German extension.
